The customer service is very bad. I had 2 numbers with Verizon land line and I signed up with Voicewing to switch to their 2 number package on June 16th of 2008. The numbers were not ported until Sept 2nd and Sept 29th. During this time they were debiting my credit card. I called on several occasions and I was told that I would receive a refund once the numbers were ported and they would then have a final date to work with to enable them to do the refund calculations. To date I have not received a refund and I have not been able to speak to someone in the billing dept. after numerous calls and promises to have someone contact me by phone or email. The caller ID function of the service is still not working properly and in addition I have to dial all 10 digits to make local calls. I have another VOIP number with another company and I don't have to do that with this company. The customer service is unbelievably bad and the technicians don't appear very knowledgeable. When questioned, they give all sorts of strange explanations which make no sense.

It's astonishing that a company as generally good as Verizon allows this group to use their brand name. Incompetent, deceptive, horrible = all these adjectives barely describe how bad VoiceWing is.

When I signed up for FIOS and FIOS TV (both great, by the way) I signed up for multi line VoiceWing. If only I'd read the reviews here first.

I signed up on July 8, 2008. It's now September 15, and the service still doesn't work. I'm paying for two providers, my home number is somewhere lost in port-land and they haven't even started the process of porting my second number.

Customer service gives you stupid lines from a script apologizing for the inconvenience, but is useless when it comes to actually fixing a problem.

Among the things they don't tell you when they claim it takes 14 days to port a number (actually, more like two months) is that for five days after that porting process you will have no access to your number or your voice mail.

Now that I've read these reviews, I can't wait to get the service installed to find out how bad it is once it's "working."

Anyone who signs up for Voicewing is making a horrible mistake. Vonage, here I come.

Had Verizon landline, telephone,DSL, and cell phones. Dropped landline for VoiceWing. Was lucky, called DSL and explained, so she gave me a 'dry loop' number for DSL.
Voicewing is HORRIBLE. We very rarely make or receive calls, but have that one in case of emergency. It keeps suspending service because it 'hasn't been used' in the past few days.
After researching on complaints, turns out that they do that so you can redetermine your service address so the 911 calls will go to the appropriate agency. DUH..if your phone isn't working, how can you make 911 calls?
After service period is up, we are cancelling.

I convinced one of the supervisors at VoiceWing to speak 'freely' about the extent of my problem(s). To no surprise, it was revealed the problems I've encountered (unable to access my account manager for the past 5 months) are impacting a vast majority of VoiceWing customers.
I've had 'trouble tickets' and the likes opened (to no avail and I'm thoroughly convinced the reps at VoiceWing are fully aware there is no 'actual' resolve available for the thousands of 'problem with service calls' they receive on a weekly basis.

Rest assured, this will result in a class action. It's simply a matter of time. Unfortunately, time in which many of us obviously don't have to waste. So in the interim, here's a tip:

1.Call support to have your credit or debit card removed.
(if you can't access your account manager)
2.Update your account with a new card...a visa, amex or m/c gift card.(not sure if they accept amex.
3. If done via a cs rep, DO NOT tell them it's a gift card...they wll never know...Trust me
4.When asked for the name on the card and address, simply give them your actual address (and name of course).
5. Remember to keep the card handy (you'll need the last four numbers of the card to confirm your identity when/if speaking to 'support'.)

This will eliminate further automatic charges to your personal bank cards. Bottom line...you've regained control of charges that in all actuality...are truly invalid. Especially if you consider the terms of the VoiceWing contract. (however don't simply stop paying)
And yes...if you deserve a credit, then request to have those funds returned to you.
FYI...credits can't be applied to a majority of gift cards (if any) on the market.
Simply buy a gift card with a $100 value and allow them to charge that card each consecutve month until they can no longer charge the card. (yes it will cost you an additional $5 to buy the card but consider the true value of this card...Verizon can no longer debit your personal credit/debit cards at will.

Unlike many of you, my call quality is ok.
However, like many of you, I simply don't like instability or inconsistency (hence the reason in which I haven't subscribed to a new carrier/VOIP service. Presently I'm determined to ride this storm out until there is a resolve in place.

Nevertheless, we all have our limits and without doubt, Verizon is approaching that limit for most of us.

Last but not least...
We must begin now to flood the phone lines, inbox and internal mailbox of every Verizon regional manager who has a hand in this mess.

Write a letter. Heck...send it certified. This is a problem that we, as american consumers have to fix. We simply have to remind the 'corporates' of the power behind the pen...and that my friends demands that we all do our part.

These reviews are very helpful and based on my experience with them I would give an overall rating of ZERO. I have been trying to sign up for Voice Wing for the past 4 days but there have been problems with the website. Customer Service has told me for 3 dyas now that someone will be calling me back once the problem is resolved. (This is a bad sign from teh beginning.) I will now find another service. I agree that the customer service is extremely poor. I have wireless service with Verizon, but after this expreience I am thinking about even switching my wireless service.

I wish I would have seen the reviews prior to signing up. This is a NIGHTMARE. I ported 2 lines over to Verizon, and have not had ANY service for 2 months. They have charged me to boot. I have called and submitted requests for service for 3 weeks straight and have not had a response. I have $8000.00 annual charges with Verizon between cell phones and FIOS, and will look to cancel all of my service since they have dropped the ball on this so badly. When you call and ask for a supervisor, their standard answer is "they are in a meeting right now". I thought Vonage was bad, this is 100 times worse! At least Vonage will help you to work through your problems. The "support" at Verizon are worthless.

DO NOT USE VOICEWING!!!! This is amazing, the biggest mistake in starting my company a year ago was using Voicewing! My account is CONSTANTLY being suspended for STUPID reasons. Aside from POOR POOR sound quality I whenever I have a power outtage and my internet goes down, they suspend my account and I have to reactivate by resubmitting my address info.

NOW THEY ARE COSTING ME THOUSANDS IN LOST BUSINESS!!! When I created my account I selected the business option yet I am being treated like a low rent residential account! My account was suddenly suspended with NO WARNING. I login to my console to see why, says my account is suspended, I noticed my bill was due the night prior, THEY ALREADY SUSPENDED IT!!! The reason was about a week ago my card was stolen and I had to order a new one, I forgot to update the information on my account and they suspended it for no pay. No call, no email no nothing. I have recently spent THOUSANDS in advertising campaigns for my business and NOW MY PUBLISHED NUMBER IS OUT OF SERVICE (for 24 hours as of now). I called up this morning and sat on hold for well over an hour. The rep took my info and said he was on an "old system" and needed to transfer me to someone on a "new system" so I sat on hold again (nervously waiting) I finally got someone on the phone, gave him my account info. The irony is I could not change my credit card, whenever I clicked on the link it would take my back to the home screen saying my account is SUSPENDED. He told me he would reactivate my account and I could change it. EGGH! Wrong, didn't work. He had me log out and log back in and try again. Didn't work. So he forwards me to a supervisor to manually enter a new credit card over the phone. I will also add that they apparently are and have had major outtages for a couple of days now. So she runs my card, and it doesn't work. What a surprise!!! She tells me there is something wrong with their system. SO SHE TELLS ME I HAVE TO OPEN A CASE WITH TECHNICAL SUPPORT!?!?! Shouldn't they open THEIR OWN CASE?! This has nothing to do with me!

I told her I understood, told her to temporarily activate my account so I would stop losing business. She told me she can't that's against policy! WHAT THE HELL!? So I told her the situation, she said she understood but there is nothing she can do. I demanded over and over for a manager she said she was the highest manager I could speak to. I explained that I am losing business that number was my lifeline, and again she apologized and said there is nothing she could do.

I waited over an hour for this mysterious call from "tech support", and my phone finally rang. Finally I am going to get this resolved. The tech called to give me a freakin CASE NUMBER!!!

To top it off, the manager said they tried sending me emails but they did not come through and that there was something wrong with my email server, which by the way we have a backup mail server JUST in case the primary goes down. NO emails anywhere, even checked spam boxes, NOTHING!!! Here I sit STILL, with no service, I'm sweating bullets wondering if I am going to survive this catastrophe, this is costing me thousands of dollars, I've never had this problem before. It will take 10 days to port my number somewhere else.

I am left with nothing else to do other than try and sue for damages, which is a pure gamble that could put me out even more money.

STAY AWAY FROM VERIZON!!! I'm even going to switch my company cell phones from Verizon because of this, I spend several hundreds per month with them.

Read my last post (3/04/2008). WOW! The horror stories are getting better and better. Verizon has certainly created their own Frankenstein Monster with this Voicewing product. I am surprised it's still even in business. I am just happy to be finally free of working at that rotten call center and finding more rewarding careers in my current occupation.

BTW, I wanted to give you customers in pain some suggestions for your problems that cannot seem to be fixed. Try contacting your public utilities commission and/or your State Attorney General regarding the issues you are experiencing. Also Verizon DOES have an internal department chain for escalations for addressing your complaints to the corporate offices, but when all other attempts are exhausted the best course of action is to file a formal complaint and follow through on my first suggestion. I hope this helps. To all of you at Verizon Corporate: No, I am not in the least bit concerned if anyone from Verizon reads my posts as an ex-employee wanting to turn on them. You deserve your every comeuppance for what you are doing to these poor, unfortunate consumers - and for what you did to us souls having to slave for you - and consequently I hope you all fry in Hell!

I have had Voicewing for 18 months and just can't take it any longer - I tried, really I did, just to avoid the hassle of switching, but they finally just pushed me over the edge with the lousy service and inept tech support. A tin can and a string would be less irritating in the long run. I hope to complete my switch away from them this week to another (highly rated) VOIP provider.

I have been a Verizon Voicewing Customer since 2005... I thought everything was fine until this year (yes the phone had some static and echo, but figured it was new technology and the bugs would be worked out)

My major problems started in January of 2008. I lost my caller id, and started calling in everyday (sometimes 2 or 3 times a day) for a week telling the customer service reps the same thing every time I called. They told me at first that it was my phone, and we spared no expense on a phone system in the house. they told me it was because of the blocks I had on the account so I took them all off. They told me they were working on it and they would send it to the technical dept. (that no one can talk to !!! )Every time I called they asked me the same thing " what seems to be the problem, but first I had to verify all the information on my account. (I too would of thought that they knew what I wanted when they pulled up my account). No notes at all.

My problem was fixed until April 4, 2008. On this day I picked up my phone and all I heard was clicking sounds I could not even hear my caller, and once again my caller id was not working..so I called Verizon from my cell phone .. When I called they opened a trouble ticket for me and told me that someone would call me back ( no one ever did, but they did send me emails telling me that they could not get in touch with me ... maybe because my phone was not working). I called everyday for 2 weeks before I woke up to find my phone disconnected.... I called Verizon (once again from my cell phone using up my minutes )and they said they did not know who did that and they would reconnect my phone for a charge of $22.66... At this point I wanted to reach into the phone and choke someone....

We are now in week 3 of a phone not working and I woke this morning again to find my phone disconnected... Once again I called and got the same run around that they don't know who did this, and when I spoke to a sup.. he could not find in the notes that my phone was turned off... I asked them if I had a open trouble ticke for 3 weeks do you think I would turn my phone off....After speaking to many supervisors they still have not fixed my problem.. Everytime I call I talk to someone who has no idea why I am calling and no one seems to be able to help me.

Today when I called for the 100th time I asked for a refund for my monthly bill of $29.71 since my phone has not been working for 3 out of the 4 weeks that I am paying for, and once again everything has to go to another department for someone else to look at.

Today I filed a complaint with the FCC..We are considering a formal complaint with the local general attorneys office also. We belive a class-action suit is very possable. I have had it with the run around of reps that can't tell me anything and supervisors that don't do anything either, except say "have I solved your problem today" or "is their anything else that I can help you with" .YES make my phone work correctly for a service im paying for.

Use caution in deciding to sign-up with verizon voicewing. We have direct debit and never once missed a payment.We have had hundreds of calls, Unplugged the router and phone adapter countless times every time we called to the point of utter fustration and to no avail.

Our expectation is a inital deposit refund , incase you make internationl calls and go over your limit, a credit for April 2008 service and so far 1 disconnect/reconnect fee that was done on their end. I allmost guarantee it will be 2 charges for that.

Even if they fix my problem (even thought I know they won't ) I have switched back to a land line that will start May 1.

Do not recommend Verizon Voice wing to anyone.


Do not port over your land lines to voice wing, you will end up without service for a long time. It?s about two months so far for me. And I have had to forward my business ph and fax lines to my home number. What a shame, considering all the hype and promises they make.

I have lost clients, lost calls, lost faxes because of Verizon?s Voice Wings technical support department?s inadequacy to fix a problem.

At first they promise that I would get a resolution within 24-48 hours. Unfortunately for me that was a lie. Meanwhile, I have no dial tone on either line, I cannot call out, and they are charging my credit card for a non-working service.

Oh, and by the way if the customer service say they will call you back, highly likely ?they will not?.

To add salt to injury, every time you call in for support, they ask you the same questions over and over and over and over again?

Of course! It?s still the same problem I have been calling about for the entire two month, one would figure that they have it noted on the account. NOT!

I am looking for a new service provider. VERISON VOICE WING IS THE WORST service I CAN IMAGINE...WHEW, makes my blood boils. I which I had not ported my numbers over.

Now a few of you might be thinking... what if I already use Verizon as my land line Carrier, if things would be better. Think again. I decided to use Voice wing, because I was a land line carrier. Unfortunately there is no difference.


It?s still SUCKS, The Service is still Terrible and the tech support department is still HORRIBLE.

I cannot believe they are still in business. They should shut down their VOIP department.

I want to sue them...Actually i really do.

Something ought to be done.

How can these people get away with this?


The aggravation, the agony, the frustration, the lies, the misleading and the lost time I have wasted on the phone with the service department, and the lost of revenue.

I am sure I am not the only one.

Can you imagine "calling your number and getting a recording that says this number has been disconnected or is no longer in service", can you imagine?

What do you think your clients would do or think??


Does anyone know if I can sue these people?

I switched from Vonage in anticipation of FIOS. VocieWing is low quality across the board. Their online portal absolutely blows; their features are embarrasing; account admin is so basic. You are foced to use their voicemail which makes for a 5 minute exercise to retrieve the VM. The online performance is dismal. The customer service is low and their is no community to help them make a better service. They clearly are not putting investment behind this. FIOS is late, so I have run out of patience. Not worth it at all.

I switched to ATT hard line after 3 days! VoiceWing was a looser from the start. The customer service is akin to calling India for help; actually India would have been better. The quality of voice was never more than horrible. The technical service people are clueless about how to resolve a problem. I quickly cut my losses, returned the phone adapter, and switched to local land line service. Echo, delayed speech, disconnected calls, website that worked about half the time, and technical service reps that somehow grew up with out adequate thyroid hormone replacement. Buyer beware!

Have been a Verizon customer forever with Wireless, Fios and Telephone. VoiceWing has been the biggest disappointment. Worst customer service ever. If you think that you are getting Verizon quality, you are not.
On the upside, I have one line operating and seems OK. Fax transmission is very questionable. I can't believe that Verizon has its name on this without any quality control mechanism in place. Over 8 hours on hold in two weeks with no results on second line.

This is the worse service I've ever seen. Calling support is like calling a nightmare with no assistance from anyone. We haven't been able to find a tech that can do a thing to assist us when they call in, they may as well have monkeys on the phone (sorry to the monkeys for insulting them, I'm certain they would be better).

Just the worse service I've seen. I'm trying to get my boss to switch with no luck, but if it keeps going down I'm certain she will...

The price is right, but if your phone is down and they are closed on Sunday and don't take calls it doesn't matter if it is free. I am very unhappy.

Subscribed to VoiceWing in August 2007. It wasn't applicable for my needs. I have called repeatedly to cancel, return the VoIP equipment and get a refund. I have faxed all payment records to them. As of today, 3/07/2008, I am still getting billed for something that I have never used. Original purchase of 79.80, 5 monthly payments of 28.03 and 2 monthly payments of 27.88. As I type this, I have been on hold to their "customer service" for 28 minutes!

Well I was a customer service rep for Verizon for 2 and a half years, I spent my first year and a half in wireless, and after a refreshing change of pace doing offline work I was (tragically) moved (demoted if you ask me) to taking calls for this miserable excuse of a VOIP service and now being able to speak freely in our customers' defense I feel it's only a matter of time before this product goes down the tubes. There were repeated continuous problems with not only sound quality but customers lose internet connection DSL or FIOS following number portability transfers which is never a smooth transaction from the beginning. The phone features are very unreliable and many times users cannot access or use voicemail, the personal account manager website runs about as slow as a snail and despite the benefits of it users cannot access their account pages therein either. Users get a 30 day trial which is slim timing considering the transition to port their landline number, risk losing internet, and get a test drive of the service before finally deciding it's not worth the hassle, then get slapped with termination fees. I know those of you reading this post may not believe me, but I personally was one to rather help you and do all within my power to fix your problems and compensate you when necessary rather than always assume Verizon is right. All in all I am super relieved to finally be free of working at that rathole. I wouldn't recommend taking calls for Voicewing to my worst enemy. I mean here you have a company that praises so highly on morals and ethics but only when it suits THEIR needs. If you think being a customer of Verizon is enough of a nightmare - try working for the company.

Wow! Where do I start? This needless to say is not a positive review. Less than 30 days of service(poor at that)was all I could stand. I promptly notified them I was cancelling VoiceWing service.I chose another VOIP service provider for my telephone service and have been pleased thus far.
In today's mail came my credit card bill. I was expecting to see a credit from VoiceWing for first month's service. No such luck. For the credit did not appear,but in it's place were two additional charges from Voice Wing. One for extra services,which I did not use and the other for a second month's service fee. Huh! I have e-mail confirmation from VoiceWing stating that in 60 days my account will be inactive.So does this mean that I can look forward to one more credit card billing from them for services not used?!!! Of course I rushed to my phone to call them. Yet another unwelcome surprise.Somehow, the VoiceWing service has reappeared today and commandeered my telephone service with my new VOIP provider.Coincidence? (Note.I sent back the VoiceWing telephone adapter long ago and do not use a router with my new VOIP service provider.) After 2 separate telephone calls to VoiceWing using their hijacked line-which I'm not going to pay for-I came close to having the problem resolved...but the call dropped out while I was told to wait, and wait, and wait and-you get the idea. So to sum it all up-Verizon VoiceWing (1) and me (0)! , for the moment. It's late,I'm tired,I need some sleep. Tomorrow, round two. And, I'm so looking forward to it. Beware the VoiceWing!!!

I've had nothing but problems since I switched from regular verizon phone line to VoiceWing I've been patient for 2 years but spend 6 hours a year with nontrained service reps who you can't hardly understand.Right now I'm down nobody can reach me and all they do is ask to bring up my account so they can help. $ hours today I've had with NoVoiceWing.

VERIZON VOICEWING IS TERRIBLE!!! I am writing a complaint letter to the FCC. VERIZON has cost me MONEY, TIME, and customers as I use the phones to operate a small business. The service departments have no training in what they are doing, they don't know if they can help you or not or what dept. to send you to. I tried earthlink VOIP before voicewing and that was a very bad experience. I've had a better experience with verizon voicewing.
The quality of calls is best if you have a cable connection. When I started out the bandwith was set at what is expected for DSL but I spoke to a rep and he raised the bandwith because I use cable. He also reduced the volume on the receiver and the sound quality has been much better.

The only complaint I have is that every once in a while I have to reset the adapter by blugging in my cable modem and router in again because the adapter doesn't recognize the phone line for some reason.

VoiceWing's call center is unreachable. My phone says my account is not available. I've called them several times and was on hold for 1 to 2 hours before I left a message with them and no call back.

Verizon Voicewing is broken and it can't fly and can't be fixed.

It is a totally unacceptable service if and when it is up and running, otherwise it just doesn't work at all.

I have filed a formal complaint with the Federal Communications Commission for what the result remains to be seen.

They completely botched my dry loop conversion ... I think on purpose because I was leaving their monopoly phone service. They just dropped my phone and DSL entirely, and couldn't/wouldn't restore either even after a week. This severely affected work, but their reps were just no help whatsoever. I spoke with 15-20 reps and spent nearly 15 hours trying to get back service. Eventually I just gave up and went to cable. Amazing thing is they now want me to pay for the service they didn't provide, plus termination fees. A company without shame or decency!! If you are considering moving to pure broadband (and who isn't?), avoid Verizon - the aggravation is just not worth it!!

I haven't had a problem with my VoiceWing Voip service from Verizon. There are so good features available and the monthly pricing is reasonable when bundled with broadband.

There are only two problems with my VoiceWing service:

1) There is sometimes an annoying echo on some calls - especially calls that I make to cell phones.

2) Your call logs are stored online and you cannot delete them. Although the logs are only viewable when I log-in to my account area I would like the ability to delete them.

All-in-all VoiceWing isn't the cheapest voip service I have seen but atleast it is from a company I have heard of and this makes me feel a little bit more secure.

I joined VoiceWing two months ago and I wish I didn't. I use Verizon DSL so I thought it would be smart to also use their VoIP service as it could also save me money on phone calls.

Call quality isn't great becuase calls always end early and I have problems setting-up and using the voicemail.

Their customer service call center reps are not helpful and they just did not fix my problems. I will never use Verizon's VoiceWing again!

Thanks to VOIPMentor.com I have been able to view a lot of reviews of broadband phone companies and I have decided to go with Vonage. They can't be as bad as Verizon VoiceWing!
