About to be the worst experience I had with an American company ever. I moved from net2phone.com due to bad customer service there and the prices, which became non-competitive at net2phone. One of my criteria for choosing provider is international rates. I need a good price for calling Moscow, Russia. Initially Packet8 seemed OK - Moscow is offered for 2 cents/min. However, after a month of use I realized that it is a do. It happens that Moscow is randomly divided between two area codes - 499 and 495. Packet8 promises Moscow for 2 cents, but in fact in concerns only 495 area code. 499 costs 7 cents, though it is also Moscow downtown. This is the only provider which makes difference between two area codes there. But this is only beginning. When signing for service I got an offer of a free month of service, and, according to their bill it is true - bill shows 0 for the first month. for the first month free - it was free monthSo, the

Price is great, as long as you expect to make or receive calls. Set up is simple. For every ten calls you make, one might go thru. Might. Avoid at all costs.

From the start terrible: terrible online interface, no voicemail management, customer service impossible to get and incredibly unconcerned with customer's problems, hidden fees and generally the worst consumer experience I have ever had, ever. From the beginning to the final cancellation (for which they charged me a $60 disconnection fee even though I had a monthly contract and had been with them for 2 months), it was a horror and a heartache. Stay away.

I switched to Packet8 when my sunrocket service was discontinued. After receiving the new equipment, I attempted to make phone calls and activate my service to no avail. After 2-3 months of contacting customer support via the web chat function, I was no closer to having working phone service. I then ordered Vonage and it worked right out of the box. When I tried to cancel my packet 8 service, I was told I'd receive no refund since I was past the 30 day trial period. If you are living overseas and trying to replace your sunrocket service, I would strongly recommend against doing business with Packet8.

I've been with Packet8 for a couple of years, and am very pleased with the service. There have been a couple of service interruptions, but they were resolved fairly quickly. I have not had to use tech support other than to report a service interruption in their overseas service. They responded that they were aware of the problem and the service was fixed in short order. Call quality is very good. There is a little time lag, about as much as you get from some cell phone calls.

I love the freedom unlimited calling plan. I am self-employed and make calls to collegues and friends in the United Kingdom and Ireland constantly. I have noticed savings of over 60% after switching from my old phone company to Packet8. Call quality is actually better than what I thought. I can't complain. And if my ISP goes down Packet8 have "Network Unavailable Forwarding" and voicemail to email, so I never miss a call. The tech support people are very helpful and answered any questions I had quickly and politely.

Packet8 offer a variety of voice and video voip packages and therefore there is a lot of options. Their equipment was really easy to set-up and with my fast broadband connection I was able to get excellent call quality and I've had no problems with any equipment or anything like that. Packet8's prices are very reasonable and I have saved money on my phone bill since moving to Packet 8 (I haven't added it up yet, but its a fair amount of money saved).
